The initiative involves creating a special report on the security of the supply chain in the Polish defence industry with the participation of all these institutions. The project aims to analyse key challenges and their solutions, which will strengthen the stability and resilience of the supply chain in the Polish defence sector.
“I am very glad that we are here together, that more entities are joining us. I am very glad with your presence and that this way of looking at the security of the Polish state is developing. We must combine forces – just as we combine them in building the arms industry, we must also combine them in securing the supply of components to this industry,” said Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz during the ceremony. The Minister of National Defence also emphasised the great importance of maintaining the continuity of the supply chain, which the COVID-19 epidemic has made us realise in particular, and which is even more important in the event of a break in the supply chain in the army, as this may lead to a loss of independence and sovereignty.
During the XXXIII Economic Forum, held in September 2024 in Karpacz, a letter of intent was signed on cooperation in the preparation of a special Report on the topic: “Supply chain security in the Polish defense industry”. The aim of which is to analyze the key challenges and solutions strengthening the stability and resilience of the supply chain in the defense sector. At that time, the letter of intent was signed by: Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense; prof. Andrzej Szarata, Rector of the Cracow University of Technology; dr hab. Piotr Wachowiak, prof. SGH, Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics; brigadier general prof. dr hab. inż. Przemysław Wachulak, Rector-Commandant of the Military University of Technology; Zygmunt Berdychowski, Chairman of the Program Council of the Economic Forum.
After signing the letter of intent, a substantive team was appointed, consisting of representatives of the signatories of the letter. Then, a team of coordinators was selected, who are responsible for individual parts of the report. In March 2025, during the 10th European Congress of Local Governments in Mikołajki, the same persons signed an Agreement implementing the provisions of the Letter of Intent regarding the development of a special report entitled “Supply Chain Security in the Polish Defence Industry”, signed in 2024 in Karpacz.
