“It was you who reacted. You did not wait for any decisions of the European Union or the UN, you just started to act” – said Oleh Kuts, Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin during the 3rd Local Government Congress of the Three Seas Initiative in Lublin, referring to the help that Poles provided to Ukraine after February 24, 2022.
“It was this region that was crucial, it reacted. It was you who reacted. You didn’t wait for any decisions of the European Union, the UN, you just started to act. It was such an impulse of the heart from the first minute. The whole world is watching and admiring how the Ukrainian nation and the Polish nation are today simply fighting side by side” – said Kuts.
“It was thanks to you that the whole world reacted, and they didn’t wait to talk about worries. It was thanks to you, because someone was a little ashamed, and someone was a little jealous” – he repeated, adding “You showed how it’s done”. “I think this is the example of solidarity” – he said.
“For me, it’s an honor to be here and work in this region, which was crucial for Ukraine to fight to the end, because we got text messages from soldiers who showed us mothers and children that ‘listen, we know you’re safe now then we can go for broke and we can fight to the end'” – the consul said. “This is thanks to you. This is what a reliable partner means” – he concluded.
“You were the first to come to help. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to do it” – he addressed the Polish local government officials and representatives of Polish companies gathered at the 3rd Local Government Congress of the Three Seas Region, who were also actively involved in helping Ukrainians attacked by the Russians.
“Poland is a leader among Western countries in terms of support, and I think that this cooperation, this tandem, cooperation and support, and friendship side by side is crucial and central” – Oleh Kuts concluded.
